At the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) Press Conference on 17th July 2013, Thanawut Wichaidit, spokesperson of the UDD, told the press that the independent organizations and the justice departments in Thailand are acting like confused “schizophrenics”who know nothing else but to slander back and forth among themselves.
Thanawut’s anger was also aimed at the Pheu Thai-led administration for ignoring the Red Shirt requests made to various governmental bodies. “These requests are grievances coming directly from the people,” Thanawut said. He further urged the government to try and listen to the UDD demands because they represent the demands of the people. He reminded the Pheu Thai-led government that brothers and sisters of the Red Shirts used to fight alongside them and their pleas deserve to be heard.
The Red Shirts demands remain the same;
1. Vote “pass” on the third reading for the charter Amendment Bill of Article 291
2. Cabinet approval of the Emergency Amnesty Decree for all political prisoners, except the co-leaders (Samut Prakarn MP Worachai Hema’s Amnesty Bill).
3. Allow International Criminal Court to begin its investigation to find the mastermind of the violent government crackdown on protestors in 2010.
